Ingredients
  

Vanilla Cupcakes

  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1 Vanilla buttercream Prepared
  • 12 Sugar heart toppers

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fill the cupcake liners about two-thirds full. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cupcakes cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cool, frost the cupcakes with vanilla buttercream.
  • Decorate each frosted cupcake with a sugar heart topper.

Notes

This recipe makes 12 standard-sized cupcakes. For best results, make sure your butter and eggs are at room temperature before mixing.
