Turkey Lettuce Wraps

These turkey lettuce wraps are a quick, healthy meal with savory minced turkey, fresh lettuce, and a hint of spice. Perfect for a light dinner or meal prep.

Ingredients
  

For the Turkey Filling

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 500 g minced turkey (7% fat)
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled and minced
  • 1 red chili thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2 tablespoons water

To Serve

  • 12 baby gem lettuce leaves washed and dried
  • 6 spring onions (scallions) finely sliced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili flakes
  • sweet chili sauce or sriracha to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan over high heat.
  • Add the minced turkey and fry for 5 minutes, breaking up any large pieces, until lightly browned.
  • Add the garlic and chili, then fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the sugar, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, white pepper, and water. Fry for 2 more minutes until the turkey is golden brown. Turn off the heat.
  • Divide the turkey mixture among the lettuce leaves.
  • Top with spring onions, sesame seeds, chili flakes, and a drizzle of chili sauce before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, add shredded carrots or cucumber. You can also swap turkey for chicken or tofu if preferred.
