These chocolate glazed donuts are soft, fluffy, and coated in a rich, glossy chocolate glaze. Perfect for breakfast, a coffee break, or a homemade dessert!
2 ½cupsall-purpose flour½ cup sugar1 packet 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast½ tsp salt½ cup warm milk2 tbsp melted butter1 egg1 tsp vanilla extractOil for frying if frying
For the Chocolate Glaze
1cuppowdered sugar¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder2 tbsp milk1 tsp vanilla extract50g melted dark chocolate optional for a richer glaze
Instructions
1 Prepare the DoughIn a bowl mix the warm milk yeast and sugar Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamyAdd flour salt melted butter egg and vanilla Mix until combined then knead for about 5 to 7 minutes until smoothCover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size
2 Shape the DonutsRoll out the dough to about ½-inch thickUse a donut cutter or a glass and a small bottle cap to cut out donut shapesPlace the donuts on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes
3 Cook the DonutsFor frying Heat oil to 350°F 175°C Fry each donut for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden brown Drain on paper towelsFor baking Preheat oven to 375°F 190°C and bake for 10 to 12 minutes
4 Make the Chocolate GlazeIn a bowl whisk together powdered sugar cocoa powder milk and vanilla until smoothIf using melted chocolate stir it in for a richer glaze
5 Glaze the DonutsDip each donut into the glaze while still warm Let excess drip off then place on a wire rack to set

For a healthier version bake the donuts instead of frying You can use almond milk or coconut milk for a dairy-free glaze Store leftover donuts in an airtight container for up to 2 days
