Onion Boil with Chicken Broth

This recipe shows you how to make baked onions using chicken broth for a richer taste. It is a simple, comforting dish suitable for a family supper.

Equipment

  • Large onions
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large onions peeled
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • To taste Salt & black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place each onion on a sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Add butter, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper to each onion.
  • Pour 2 tablespoons of chicken broth over each onion.
  • Seal the foil tightly around the onions.
  • Bake for 55 to 60 minutes until the onions are soft and juicy.
  • Serve the onions hot with the flavorful broth spooned on top.

Notes

Using chicken broth instead of water gave this dish a richer flavor during repeat testing.
