Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 16 string cheese cut in half crosswise
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs and milk, and one with seasoned breadcrumbs.
  • 2. Coat each cheese stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then roll in breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb step for extra crunch.
  • 3. Place coated sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 2 hours until solid.
  • 4. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry sticks in small batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 5. Drain on paper towels, season lightly, and serve warm with marinara sauce.

Notes

For a lighter version, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes.
Add parmesan, chili flakes, or garlic powder to breadcrumbs for extra flavor.
Best enjoyed immediately, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven or air fryer.
