Heart-Shaped Chocolate Sugar Cookies

Dry Ingredients
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and mix until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Wrap the dough and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough and cut out heart shapes.
Place the cutouts on baking sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely before decorating.
This chocolate dough maintains its shape well during baking, which makes the decorating process simpler.
