Heart-Filled Valentine Cupcakes with Jam Center

These cupcakes hide a sweet jam surprise in the center of each one. The jam center makes every bite feel like a sweet surprise.

Ingredients
  

Vanilla Cupcakes

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling

  • 0.5 cup strawberry or raspberry jam

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the cupcake batter by creaming the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs, vanilla, milk, and dry ingredients to the mixture.
  • Fill the cupcake liners halfway with batter.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of jam to the center of the batter in each liner.
  • Cover the jam with more batter until the liners are two-thirds full.
  • Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.
  • Cool the cupcakes completely before you serve them or add frosting.

Notes

This recipe is for the cake and filling only. You can decorate these with your favorite romantic frosting or simple dusting of sugar.
