Classic Vanilla Valentine Cupcakes with Pink Frosting

Pink frosting changes simple vanilla cupcakes into a festive and heartfelt treat. These cupcakes are suitable for Valentine’s Day celebrations, parties, or gifting.

Ingredients
  

Vanilla Cupcakes

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup milk

Pink Buttercream

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 milk tablespoons
  • Pink food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until the mixture is light in color and texture.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients mixture and the milk to the batter, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  • Fill the cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Cool the cupcakes completely before frosting.
  • For the frosting, beat the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, milk, and pink food coloring until the mixture is fluffy.
  • Frost the cooled cupcakes.
